The Kiln
We fire in a gas kiln in Jianyang, the town where tenmoku has been made for nine hundred years. Each firing takes three days: two to climb, one to cool. The glaze is iron-rich clay and wood ash; the hare’s fur and oil spots are the kiln’s decision, not ours.
Pieces that survive the cooling are measured, photographed and priced individually. There is no second identical cup.
